Making Connections,
With the  Sea

Since 1994, we’ve been making connections with the sea…nautical art that will transport you. Thoughtfully included with each piece is its historical provenance to get you there.

Nauticals of Marblehead began in 1994 with the discovery of a wooden sailboat that appeared to be at the end of her time. This was the inspiration and source material for the first coffee table Davita Nowland designed for her own home. Her original design made use of a stripped out sailboat hull whose chance of hope had been diminished by years of neglect and boatyard scavengers.

Davita specializes in the creation of unusual, yacht inspired sculpture for the home or boat. Bars, tables, lamps, and other one-of-a-kind salty souls, complete with their provenance aboard, emerge from her worktable in her 2nd floor shop in Historic Marblehead, MA. Whether it is yacht style, rich with warm wood tones and varnish, or rustic style, featuring raw wood and colorful layers of old paint that appeals to you, you’ll find your own style to connect you with the sea.

A self taught designer and woodworker, Davita is a native New Englander from a family of sailors, artists and inventors. She is a graduate of The University of Rhode Island and later, Simmons Graduate school of Management. The love of Boats continues to play a key role in her life. From learning to sail as a child on Blue Jays on the Connecticut River, she has marketed boats and yacht charters, and taught sailing between yacht deliveries and racing on the Atlantic Ocean. Following graduate school until she established Nauticals of Marblehead, Davita worked in sales and marketing. Today her own personal sailboat is a 23’ Sea Sprite named LUCKY, with whom she enjoys day sails off Marblehead as often as possible.
